“This process was extremely important in understanding the nature of contract law between indigenous nation states.” Murrumu of Walubara
IFAC Forum 2025 is hosting a two-day workshop, facilitated by the College of Law at the Australian National University, aims to empower Indigenous peoples in understanding the modern treaty-making process. Participants will delve into case studies highlighting successful and unsuccessful treaties from around the globe, gaining insights into best practices and pitfalls. Through interactive negotiation scenarios, attendees will engage in role-playing to simulate treaty discussions, fostering practical skills in writing and negotiating treaties. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a clearer understanding of the ultimate objectives and strategies necessary for effective treaty-making in their communities.
